Can you be Positively Negative?

Anyone who has spent any time studying the scriptures or communing with God has learned one simple basic fact about the character of the Almighty, God is good! He never seeks to harm, He never belittles, He never insults. With a little more scriptural study we also come to learn that He doesn't want any of us to go around harming, belittling, or insulting others either. However, over time, after we have become more adept theologians, we begin to notice something shocking; we learn that there are glaring faults in other people, both in believers and non. Our need for an outward portrayal of a 'deep spirituality' often makes us aware that we must remind ourselves that other people are far from perfect. And, that others are, in our newly learned and 'sanctified' opinions, at the heart of almost every problem. And, so we begin to complain about others. In a very short time we have moved from being in the ranks of the thankful to being just plain rank. In some strange way we come to understand that the true sign of Christian maturity is seen in the ability to complain about those around us. And, complain we do. As we become well studied theological mavens we are more than happy to share the point of our finely sharpened tongue with anyone within it's reach. And, the more we do the more miserable and dissatisfied we ourselves become. Why? The Torah tells us not to be negative about others, not to live in a critical attitude or we may find our own souls in critical condition! As Yeshua said: "Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?" Matthew 7:4 Oh, there is plenty to kvetch about in the world and many can make the argument that there is even more to complain about in the 'church', but it is not the job of the believer to sit around complaining about everyone and every thing else. It is the job of the believer to witness of the goodness of God found in Yeshua! If we genuinely desire to walk with God and see His will done on the earth then we need to stop complaining about others. There's no life in it. We need to stop going negative at every opportunity even if the opportunities abound. Let the spiritually dead bury themselves, our words of derision and lamentation aren't needed it that work; there is plenty of dirt going around to do that already. We don't need to add to the pile. Some would say that the world or the troublesome Christians have caused them great personal hurt or offense and they have a right to complain; a right to let everyone else know how terrible others may be. But, the gospel doesn't give us that option. To live in freedom we need to live in forgiveness whether or not the offenders repent of their faults. The scriptures don't tell us to ignore the problems or the problematic, but they do tell us to focus ourselves on the answer, Yeshua. Seek to save the lost, don't just blame them for the present state of things. Be the messenger of the grace of God to the foundering believers, don't just complain about others who claim to do so but don't. If we choose to walk a negative path then we will find ourselves doing so alone and without the Spirit of God. He will not be a partaker in our endless litany of complaints. And, if we were ever to find ourselves without Him then we'll really have something genuine to complain about! Don't just bemoan the evils in the world or the lack of a powerful gospel, offer the alternative. Be the light. Witness of God. Proclaim Yeshua, for in Him everything is Yea and Amen! My words of advice and prayer for you are the following: Don't go negative, don't go negative, don't go negative! About that I am quite positive.
